BxNU MFA | Interim Exhibition

3-21 June 2015

Level 1,
Northumbria University Studios,
BALTIC 39

Freddie is the BxNU Master of Fine Art (MFA) Interim Exhibition, featuring the work of artists Alex Brunt, Jamie Ellis Clark, Alex Harmon, Phil Larry, David Longwill, Markos Sotiriou and James Watts.

Freddie indicates an attitude of playful irreverence in art making, neither looking too far forward nor too far backwards; a heightened curiosity for the present, a willing of the everyday to offer up occasional wonder. This mischievous, inquisitiveness reflects the spirit of open experimentation which has characterised the work of the students represented here during their first year of MFA study, the results of which have been variously witty, intriguing, challenging, delicate, thoughtful, spirited and sometimes very loud.

This halfway point in the course marks a defining moment of sensitivity and reflection, as all seven artists ascertain the new directions and possibilities generated in their practices. The achievements and potential demonstrated here makes this an exciting exhibition in its own right and anticipates inspiring developments to come.
